Spoils of War. Muslims inherit booty. In this case, it was the Jews' land:

· Allah brought those of the people of the book who had backed up the confederates, down from their fortresses and cast terror into their hearts; so that some of them you slew and some you took captive. He made you inheritors of their land and their houses and their wealth, and of a land on which you have not yet set foot. (33:26,27)

Non Muslims living in Muslim lands are called Dhimmis and subjected to a tax called Jizya:

· Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the jizya tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection. (9:29)

Muslims state Mohammad decreed the freeing of the slaves. The verse in which this is mentioned states that freeing of a slave is a PENALTY for one who commits manslaughter (of a Muslim only.)

The slave is property. Freeing a slave is like paying a FINE, but is only to be done if it can be AFFORDED:

· Never should a believer kill a believer, unless it happens by mistake. If one kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased's family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave is sufficient. If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah: for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom. (4:92)

Slaves have no power and are unequal:

· Allah sets forth the Parable of two men: one a slave under the dominion of another; He has no power of any sort; and the other a man on whom We have bestowed goodly favours from Ourselves, and he spends thereof (freely), privately and publicly: are the two equal? praise be to Allah. But most of them understand not. (16:75)

Slaves should not be shared:

· Allah puts forth a Parable a man belonging to many partners at variance with each other, and a man belonging entirely to one master: are those two equal in comparison? Praise be to Allah! but most of them have no knowledge. (33:29)

Muslims say their form of slavery is kind to slaves. But sex with slaves is OK:

· Successful indeed are the believers who are humble in their prayers, and who avoid vain talk, and who are active in deeds of charity, who abstain from sex, save from their wives or the (slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy (23:1-6)

Raping captive women is necessary for soldiers when they are away from their wives. Mohammad says there is no harm in raping them, no harm in ransoming them, and since this is all from Allah, there is no need to try to prevent pregnancy:

Slave girls should be virgins too, but their punishment for unbecoming conduct is half that of Muslim women. (Being slaves, there is good chance that they were raped or used for sex already:)

Islam allows slavery. All captives of war are called right hand possessions. The possessions of the captives or slaves are considered spoils of war. Islam has never outlawed slavery because doing that would be going against the Koran.
